About Me

I’m Michael Sall, a lifelong card player best known for my decades-long run in high-stakes gin rummy. For more than forty years, I’ve made my living at the table, studying the game with an intensity most people reserve for careers or graduate school. Along the way, I’ve built a reputation as one of New York’s most feared money gin players, facing the toughest competition in private clubs, back rooms, and underground games.

My path wasn’t traditional. I learned the game the hard way: by losing, adjusting, and coming back sharper. Over time, I became obsessed with the patterns hidden in every discard, every hesitation, every tiny change in an opponent’s behavior. That obsession eventually led me to write a strategy book on gin rummy, sharing the predatory mindset and technical approach that allowed me to survive and thrive in some of the world’s toughest games.

Today, I still play. Gin rummy gave me a life most people only read about—full of risk, volatility, and unforgettable characters—and I try to bring that experience to anyone who wants to truly understand what it means to bet on yourself.
